Isn't it only a �30 drop - only done it so that it appears to be under a grand. Its not a significant drop - shame really, because its still so much more than the white one!

A blog notes (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2006/08/hijacking_a_macbook_in_60_seco_1.html) that two hackers are demonstrating a security flaw in the Macbook's device driver that would allow them to "seize total control over the machine".
...this attack can be carried out whether or not a vulnerable targeted laptop connects with a local wireless network. It is, they said, enough for a vulnerable machine to have its wireless card active for such an attack to be successful.
Similar vulnerabilities have also been found in corresponding Windows wireless drivers but the two are demoing the vulnerability on the Mac due to Apple's recent advertising (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/05/20060501211004.shtml) on Mac OS X's security.
The vulnerability has not been described to be "in the wild", and the two have been in touch with Apple, Microsoft and other companies responsible for the drivers.

I think the best thing would mean that The Beatles catalogue would finally be remastered and also in 5.1. The LOVE Album in 5.1 is AMAZING. You can quibble with a few of the mashups but the sound is so crisp and immediate.
Now for me I would never buy them from iTunes because of the quality, but this would serve both parties VERY well. If any of you have surround you have to hear the LOVE album that way. Remeber since it is really a soundtrack to a show, it is sequenced that way with several transition pieces that are really berautiful. The drums, the bass, the vocals are immediate!! A few of the masup ups are forces but again you will be in awe of the sound recording.
It kind of gives to the impression that OASIS never had one roiginal idea;)

I would love a click-wheel iPod with the thickness of a iPod touch. Not that Apple would build such a thing. If true, I hope apple does not eave the click wheel concept in it's trash bin.

I don't know that I would call it feminized, but it certainly seems bratty and petulant. Sell them everywhere! Someone mentioned Starbucks and 7-11... and while they were being douchenozzles about it, I say those sound like great ideas. I don't care if they sell them at hot dog carts in the park... the more places that sell them and the more people that see them the better. When you limit an item to boutique stores, the items get a stigma of being posh and elitist... that is NOT how you move tons of product.
Having more distribution points does not increased the supply; it just spreads it out more thinly, making it even harder to locate the few supplies that do exist.

The edu price for 2gb is an additional 112, how far off consumer prices is that (I know a gig for my lappy will set me back 90 but I'm not up on prices for other people's memory).
Don't forget that 120GB HD. It is a moot point though, the HD is easily replaced in the MB.

(A) Apple TV now has out-of-the-box DVR functionality for over-the-air HDTV.

(B) Jobs is going to sit this one out and in lieu of the the usual product announcements, let Apple board member and Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore give a new and improved Keynote presentation about carbon emissions.
I just got my Mac mini / eyeTV HD DVR setup working, so both would suck, but (B) would suck more.

New nanos would be nice. I promised my girlfriend a new mid-range nano, as soon as they were updated, for her birthday - and that was two weeks ago... hopefully she can get her birthday present within a month of her birthday... :)

If it's shipping in June, even June 30, how can it not be near final form? I mean when a developer tells me s/w is "nowhere near final form" I'm thinking early beta at best. But 2.5 months from release (assume June 30) shouldn't it be in the bug testing phases and everything else locked up?
It really sounds like this may be only on the App-store. If so, knock a month off your imagined timeline since they don't have to burn disks, print those huge books, and package them all up.
So this is more like '3.5 months out' by the old way of thinking of things.
Also, the way I read this it seems like they're using a version from February at these demos. (Which makes sense that they wouldn't show off the absolute current version. Someone's probably been working on this presentation for awhile.) So what they showed really could be a version that has literally 4 or 5 more months of work going into it.

Bottom line, Apple does not exist to outperform pc's. They exist to make their share holders money. The original question was who should we blame? I am not sure that there is a problem. As one consumer, I would love to see macs outperform pc's, but before I am willing to accept there is a problem that will affect apple's profitability I would like to see a business case explaining how apple can make more money by fixing these alleged "problems". But, I really dont care. I use apple because i like it. when apple stops meeting my computer needs, i can go somewhere else, or do without.

If it requires overpriced glasses, it ruins the pictures colors and looks awkward.
If it does not require overpriced glasses, you will get a headache and possibly vomit.
For me, it just never works unless I use the RealD glasses at theaters, but those make my ears and head hurt after a while. Other than that, the quality is typically fine.
The fact that I recently got prescription glasses makes it much worse :(

I've changed my mind on this one. I used to be in the "kill Flash, please" group but there have been plenty of times now when I've been on travel with just my iPhone and have been unable to use a site which incorporates Flash (rightly or wrongly) as part of its critical user interface. Being able to turn on Flash support, suffering briefly through a period of high battery drain and slow response, and then turning it off again is a much smaller inconvenience than either carrying around a separate and otherwise un-needed device or simply being dead in the water.

I know. It's insane... Hopefully with iOS 5 we will get some sort of patch system, like on OS X. Makes sense, really.
