WTF? Is this the thing about the 12" BP and 12/14" iB batteries they've had on their website for 400 years?

On a full sized computer? That's horrible. Adobe has to get their act together and make flash more efficient before they can be allowed on the iphone.
Well, yes. That's a point that's been repeated, and replied to, ad nauseum.
One more time:
Remaking Flash 10 for more efficient mobile use is exactly what Adobe is trying to do, with the help of ARM designers.
If it runs well, full Flash could become popular on mobiles* as a universal application development and delivery platform. If it doesn't run well, it'll have to wait until cpus get faster.
* With the probable early exception of the iPhone.

For those who are waiting for their new nanos, an immediate update has been released. I'm not sure what has changed though, possibly a bug fix.

initial backup over wifi (required) then future incremental (smaller) backups could be over 3G. the iPhone already tells you when an app is to large to update w/o wifi - it's already been training us about what we can and can't do w/o wifi.
who determines what qualify as future incremental backups? What if I do my initial (required) backup over wifi, then add 5gb of photos? Don't think the wireless carriers are going to go for that.
But that's besides the point... i was referring to apple giving everyone free cloud storage.
As of January this year, over 160 million iDevices have been sold. Consider maybe an average of 20gb per device and apple is looking to give out 3.2 billion GB of cloud storage to it's customers. Something tells me this is not going to happen. You think they want to let everyone back up their 64gb iPod touches to the cloud. You think apple or att/verizon is going to be ok with people backing up their 32gb iPhones to the cloud? No way, not a chance...

Where does it say 10 days later?
The level "Long Night of Solace" takes place on August 13, 2552. When you arrive, on foot, in New Alexandria for the level "Exodus", the date is August 23, 2552. It shows you the date each level takes place during all the cutscenes. The game doesn't take place over the course of 3 days or anything. From the first level through the end, over a month passes (July 24 to August 30).
Like I said that was my opinion. The story is rubbish.
That is fine. I'm not telling you what your opinion should be. I'm just saying, I found the story to be quite good, and all of the levels seemed very logical in their order and importance. The fact that you missed all the dates in all the cutscenes might explain why you found them to be "random" in their occurrence. The story was VERY far from rubbish, in my opinion.

I finally got through again.
First time, it came back and said both the computer and battery were ineligible. After checking the Pbook's serial number again, I realized I had a digit wrong. Fixed that, and it came through and asked for my address. I then got a confirmation page, and got an email a few minutes later. So keep trying.
For the record:
15 in. Powerbook G4 purchased in June 2005
Battery serial number started with: 3K521

None, it would seem.

You are aware you just paid extra for only one think and that is MAC os. By placing windows on it you kind of defeat the purpose of buying a MAC. You wasted a lot of money in fact. Never buy a mac for hardware...Because they do not have the best.
Plenty of people buy Macs for the hardware. If I needed a laptop right now to run Windows and nothing else, then obviously I would have to check whether I am mentally capable of using Windows for any length of time without throwing the laptop out of the window, but once I've found the strength to do that, the 13" MBP or one of the MBAs are probably the least miserable way to run Windows.
Of course, if you are praying every day that your laptop breaks down because you have to use Windows, then a MacBook is not for you.
Ok you keep bring up quality. You are aware that Apple does not Produce the highest quality computers.
Actually, no. I'm not aware of that.

Sounds good. I NEED an iPad 3 when it comes out. iPad 2 is old news :D
I'm still scoping for a cracked iPad 1 on craigslist. Maybe I should just get an abacus.

Well spoken, blitzkrieg79.
It is amazing to me that otherwise intelligent people parrot the corporate line that its simply not possible to manufacture products domestically and remain profitable. Do people really think that $80 name brand shirts, $140 shoes, or the $2500 computers being made on the other side of the planet are being sold at a price anywhere near what it actually cost to make? C'mon.
Why is it every time a company moves manufacturing overseas, we never see a reduction in the price?
If Apple was just barely squeezing out a profit and scraping by, holding on by their fingernails, I'd buy their line about needing to manufacture practically everything overseas, but we're talking about a company that makes absolutely enormous profits.
So Apple simply can't afford to manufacture here anymore? Well, how much profit did Apple make last quarter, again? Haha, sure, right.

Every time engineers are trying to be clever they run the risk of messing things up. Taking the old iOS, removing it completely, and installing a completely new, fresh iOS is safe and risk free. Trying to be clever and replace only the right things risks messing up things and leaving a very, very, very unhappy customer.
But don't they manage patches with Mac OS X all the time... ? And Mac OS X has much more of the OS exposed and accessible to the user (more to be tinkered with).
I would just like smaller, incremental updates. To be honest I don't mind attaching the phone to the computer to backup before an update at all, it just seems sensible. Updating over 3G before backing up seems risky... unless the backup will happen as part of their 'iCloud' system perhaps?

...they had to bring the store down worldwide?
Sometimes I wonder what Apple hires those smart people for, if it's just the morons running their daily business.
Because those morons have to clear caches worldwide so that all the Akamai pages/sites are updated in sync.

Try squeezing 26,000 songs on your iPhone. ;)
Nice library, but do you need it with you at all times? I used to think I did, but I've found that I don't need 11,000 songs with me all the time. I have songs in my library I haven't listened to in years. Another reason why the iPod classic is dying, Apple, and iTunes, have made it very easy to manage the music you actually listen to, and add it to your iPod.

I also doubt we'll be seeing a phone, but anything's possible with Apple.
Nobody was really expecting this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=500), remember?
What a fantastic thread. Thanks for the link -- some of those comments are histerical.

I am a Transplant Physician at a University Hospital. I, and several others at my Medical Center use the iPad to access our Electronic Medical Record at the patients bedside, take notes and access reference material.
The most recent issue of the Mayo Alumni Newsletter focussed on that institution's implementation of mobile technology (specifically iPhones & iPads) in delivering more efficient patient care.
sounds amazing, we still use windows xp here which yet most can't even work properly lol and write down everything on paper. hell they still forbid cellphones to be used in the hospital.

Building a new PC soon Well i hope for my money Microsoft give me a nice big shiney box for Vista with lots of pointless manuels that give it that expensive heavy feel.
After years of "naughty" versions of Windows feels weird to be looking forward to paying for the latest version.

I haven't seen the video. But if the description of the vulnerability says "seize control" or "aribtrary code execution", it's the real thing. They can do whatever they want, although sometimes restricted by the privileges of the user that the compromised process is running as.
Here's the link to the main blog page, with video: link (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/)
What do you think?

Before getting slapped... I guess if youre a billionaire you can shove earbuds into a strangers ear, but here in Real World USA the results would not be pretty. Do that with your girlfriend, I dont think ANYONE would want a stranger theyve known for 1 minute coming up to them and putting crap into their ear.
Yes, it would be rare for two people who hardly know each other to go start sticking icky things into icky parts of each other's bodies  :D

LOL! This is just a Hollywood studio's desperate wet dream.
They are realizing that 3D is turning into a fad instead of the money cow they were expecting. With a few exceptions the studios are losing a lot of money with 3D and now hope Apple will turn their turd into gold...
